Strategy-by-strategy savings
Each row: contribution amount × your marginal rate (federal + state + FICA where applicable).
If you do this every year, with 7% growth…
Annual tax savings reinvested at 7% nominal — what they compound to.
How the math works. Federal: 2025 brackets + standard deduction (Single $15,000 / MFJ $30,000 / HoH $22,500). FICA: SS 6.2% up to $176,100 wage base + Medicare 1.45% on all wages + Additional Medicare 0.9% above $200k single / $250k MFJ. State: top marginal rate per state — for incomes in lower state brackets, actual savings are slightly lower. HSA savings include FICA deduction (assuming employer-sponsored payroll deduction). Mega Backdoor Roth doesn't reduce current-year tax — instead, the figure shows estimated future capital gains tax avoided on tax-free Roth growth (assuming 30 years at 7%, 20% LTCG). 529 has no federal income tax deduction; state benefits vary widely and are not modeled here.
